Over 600 Halton residents visited the Halton Waste Management Site on Saturday, September 29, 2012 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Site’s opening.
Guests took part in tours of the landfill, got to climb aboard heavy equipment like the dozer, paint a fish for our Stream of Dreams mural, take in exhibits by Emterra Group, Orange Drop and Recycle Your Electronics, enjoy a barbeque provided by the Lions Club of Milton, and enjoy a delicious anniversary cake!
A big “thank you” to all of our guests who helped make this event such a positive success. You can read more about the 20th anniversary in this Toronto Star article.

What a great event! My boys loved seeing the recycling and garbage trucks up close. We had such a fun time! Thank you.
My daughter enjoyed the event as well — she is still talking about the tour and all the insightful information about the science behind waste management. My 9- year old is now a spokesperson for the 3R’s and protecting our streams and rivers! Great event, very organized and informative – not to mention great food, activities and treats!

This was a very nice effort of celebration with spreading the awareness of living in a clean society. Many parents just complain about their children by not listening to be hygienic and avoid doing activities that would get them dirty. The concern of such parents can be solved by organizing such events regularly and hence give the lesson how to remain away from catching a disease and keep themselves clean wherever they go.
